"Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings." Psalms 63:7

Finding joy is a process. Choosing joy is bravery. Glimpses of joy only find us as we are; as we navigate our daily existence and strive to be happy, healthy, creative and kind.

Joy bubbles up in time spent with loved ones. Joy seeps into activities, conversations. Attempt to chase joy, choose joy for each day, each step, each breath; that is the process. Discovering who we are and what we love, being honest enough to reveal what we find. Our basic human truth stitched into the fabric that is our life.

Chasing joy is to fall and rise up again. It is brushing off the dust of the not-so-right in order to fall into the just-right and have it absolutely and completely suspend us in a soul-filling, back-straightening, shoulder-squaring, eye-clearing joy that comes from an acceptance of who we truly are. Bare bones. Raw. Boiled down to the absolute core of our person, our being.

That’s where joy is found. In the process of choosing it. Joy doesn't come to the party without an invitation. It doesn't come without expense and doesn't take the uncomfortable chair.

Seeking joy, choosing it, will change us in a deep and profound way.
